Soukaina has studied health sciences, where she focused on informal carers with a Moroccan background and their situation. She has done this qualitatively through semi-structured interviews. In addition, she completed her bachelor’s degree with a quantitative study of the motivations and barriers of low-skilled workers in the areas of general food choice, healthy eating and weight management. Soukaina is following the master Management, Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship at the VU, where she is involved in participatory action research. She is also working on a project about the digital divide among elderly people with a migration background in The Hague and Rotterdam.
At Leyden Academy, Soukaina is since February 2021 part of the Cultural Sensitive Care project team, which we carry out together with Amsta, Amstelring and Cordaan. During this project we will talk to elderly people and their loved ones about their future care needs and we will look at how employees and the practice can meet this.
