D. van Bodegom MD PhD
David van Bodegom studied History and Medicine and became involved in health research during his medical training in 2004. He was a member of the Young Excellence Class.
He works at the department of geriatrics and gerontology as a PHD student where he studies ageing in a natural environment in a rural community in the north of Ghana, Africa. This study focuses on environmental, genetic, immunologic determinants of (healthy) ageing.
Since the beginning of 2009 he is a member of staff of the Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing that trains pioneers in implementing excellence to advance the quality of life of older people. Here, he is primarily involved in the educational and research activities of the Leyden Academy.
