In April 2017 Belia Schuurman joined Leyden Academy as a PhD candidate, where she researches the image of older people. In this area, there is still a lot of (scientific) knowledge to be gathered. Hopefully the study outcome will contribute to a more positive image of older people.
Belia has completed her Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies and a research master in Social Cultural Science at Radboud University Nijmegen. Before and during her studies Belia worked at a housing cooperation amongst others, and she did research in both Europe and South-East Asia.
