In February 2010 the Austrialian couple Ian Cameron and Susan Kurlle joined the Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing as visiting professors. They worked on research projects and were involved in the educationale programme of the Leyden Academy. Furthermore they visited Dutch health institutions, amongst others the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), and regional nursing homes (particularly the ones with a rehabilitation centre).

Ian Cameron and Susan Kurrle left Leiden mid May to continue their work at the medical faculty of the University of Sydney. Back home Susan Kurlle wrote an article in the newsletter of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine about the Leyden Academy.
