Post doctoral researcher
As a post-doctoral researcher you will become a member of our scientific staff. You will be offered a unique combination of research, educational activities and public activities in an enthusiastic, multidisciplinary team. You will be mainly responsible for the development of and research in initiatives that arise from the research of the ambitions, values and desires of older individuals according to the concept of vitality. This concerns the translation of these ambitions, values and wishes in research and projects in cooperation with various stakeholders that ultimately lead to product and service development for older individuals. Besides this, you will assist in the coordination and organisation of our Master programme and you will teach in both our executive course and master programme. Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing is an independent knowledge centre established in 2008. It is committed to delivering a high quality academic standard and international level of education and training, while participating actively in research and initiating developments in the field of vitality and ageing. Leyden Academy believes that an integrated, holistic approach is essential to achieve its core mission: to promote and improve the quality of life of seniors.
Leyden Academy is an initiative of Vereniging Aegon and works closely with Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), Leiden University, ILC Global Alliance, Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Rostock) and Biology of Ageing (Cologne), and with the Vereniging Het Zonnehuis. Leyden Academy is project leader for the VITALITY! programme within the Medical Delta.
Your position is in a highly dynamic organisation that is both scientifically and societally oriented. You will be employed on a 40-hour week basis. The appointment is for 1 year initially. Starting salary will be according to the CAO UMC's scale 11.0. The terms of employment offered by Leyden Academy are highly favorable. You will receive a year-end bonus and an individual pension arrangement.
You hold a PhD in health care science, economics, (health) management or social science, and have graduate experience in behavioral change, entrepreneurial initiatives and/or consumer behavior. Although you are able to work independently, we expect you to be a team-player. You possess excellent communication skills, including fluently written and spoken English. You have teaching experience and are able to attractively present for a scientific and non-scientific public. A flexible work approach and ability to cope with ad-hoc challenges is essential in our very dynamic team and you will be expected to present and publish your findings. Furthermore, you will be part of the faculty of our master and executive programmes. You are well-skilled in coordination, organisation and multi-tasking.
