Terms
The Medical Master’s degree Vitality and Ageing runs from September to June. You can download the (provisional) study guide for 2011-2012 here.

Medical Master’s degree
Students who successfully complete the programme will receive the internationally accredited title of ‘Master of Science’ from Leiden University.

Leyden Academy and Leiden University follow a Code of Conduct.

Facilities
Leyden Academy aims to create a stimulating study and research environment. To enable this it offers various facilities and organizes several social activities to make participation in the programme as productive and enjoyable as possible. Free Wi-Fi is available in the whole building for all students. We expect all students to bring their own laptop.
 
Students may use all research facilities present at the LUMC, such as reading rooms, computer rooms and the medical library. Also all facilities of  Leiden University are available to the students, this includes the sports centre and university library.

Costs and scholarships
There are three costs associated with the medical master’s degree:
  • the tuition fee for the Master programme is € 9,750.--*. Books, teaching materials and literature are included in this fee.
  • living expenses during your stay in the Netherlands.
  • travelling expenses from and to your home country/city.

If you are selected to participate in the Master programme, you can apply for a scholarship to cover a part of the study related expenses.

In addition, there is the Vitality and Ageing Fund. You can only apply for a scholarship of this fund if you are not qualified for any other scholarships, which should be proven by an official document. To apply for the Vitality and Ageing Fund scholarship please click here.

Living expenses during your stay in the Netherlands are your own responsibility. As foreign students will be legally in the Netherlands, you will be allowed to work ten hours a week while you study. Travel costs are not covered by the grant. Many countries have state funds and private funds for this kind of expenses.
 
Living in Leiden
During the Master’s programme you could live and work in Leiden. It is a lively university town and has a rich cultural and social scene. Leiden is close to Amsterdam, Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport) and The Hague.

Visa
If you are a student from outside of Europe, Leiden University will assist you with your visa application procedure (if you apply before April 1st).
