'Dutch life expectancies in international perspective'
The Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing is a new medical knowledge center with an international education and research programme. The mission of the Leyden Academy is to improve the quality of life of older people. To achieve this aim the Academy attracts young medical professionals to take part in vocational training given by a world class faculty and helps these trainees to become pioneers in implementing excellence.
The Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing is organizing its first Dies Colloquium on 11 November 2009 in collaboration with the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) and the International Longevity Centers (ILC).
The Dies Colloquium focuses on life expectancy differences between developed countries. We have invited world experts from Japan, France and the United States to give their view on the Dutch situation. How are the Dutch performing in the care for older people? What can we learn from the way other countries take care of their older inhabitants? Which short-term interventions should we promote and which long-term goals should we set in the Netherlands? What additional research is needed to identify the determinants of life expectancy in developed countries?
We would like to invite you to attend the Dies Colloquium 2009 on 11 November. The Dies Colloquium will take place at the Leyden Academy, Poortgebouw LUMC, Leiden.
