Diana van Heemst works one day a week at the Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing. She is coordinator of Mechanisms of Ageing at the Master Vitality and Ageing. She is also examining the possibilities to connect this module with education in the Biomedical Sciences, Medicine and Biology at Leiden University.
The rest of the week Diana works at the Department of Geriatric Medicine of the LUMC as Associate Professor. Her research focuses on unraveling the mechanisms of healthy ageing, particularly the importance of maintaining a stable internal environment (homeostasis).
Diana studied Biology at Wageningen University, where she completed her PhD in 2000.
